In Australia, up to 50% of people struggle with a chronic condition, many of which can have diet implications including:
- Diabetes (type 1 and 2)
- Cardiovascular diseases (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, angina)
- Eating Disorders
- Stroke
- Osteoporosis
- Fibromyalgia
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis)
- Cancers
Living with a medical condition can have it’s challenges, but that doesn’t mean you can’t live a full life. As a dietitian with experience in chronic conditions, I will help you better understand your health condition in relation to diet, which can be the first step in developing a self-care plan.
I know that health and well being does not come in a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. Together we will develop tailored strategies that suit your health condition and fit with your lifestyle, resulting in maximum enjoyment, taste and flexibility. As a result of our work together, you will feel empowered to make food choices that you love which positively influence your health and quality of life.
Note: If you have a chronic condition you may be eligible for a chronic disease management plan through your GP which entitles you to up to five sessions with a dietitian through Medicare. Please discuss with your GP to see if you qualify.
