Body Image

Body image challenges can deeply affect well-being and your relationship with food.

You might experience self-criticism, anxiety, or discomfort in your body.

At Be Mindful Nutrition we offer a supportive space to explore these experiences using a weight-inclusive approach that centres care, curiosity and respect.

How challenges can show up

Body image distress can show up in some of these ways:

  • Negative thoughts or feelings about your body
  • Checking, avoiding, or critiquing your body
  • Anxiety or guilt related to appearance or eating
  • Feeling pressure from diet culture or societal expectations
  • Difficulty separating health from appearance
  • Avoiding certain social situations because of how you feel in your body

You don’t need to experience all of these for support to be helpful.

How we support you

Together, we may work on:

  • Developing an understanding of your current body image and where it needs support
  • Building body respect and self-compassion
  • Understanding the impact of diet culture on body image
  • Reducing body checking or avoidance behaviours
  • Separating health from appearance
  • Developing a more peaceful relationship with your body over time

Our goal is not to change your body, but to help you learn how to treat it with more kindness and feel safer and more comfortable within it.

Who this support may help

This support may be helpful if you:

  • Struggle with negative or critical body thoughts
  • Check or avoid your body frequently
  • Feel pressure from diet culture or appearance expectations
  • Want to feel more comfortable and at ease in your body
  • Avoid going out or doing things you love because of your body
  • Are recovering from disordered eating or body image challenges

Improving body image doesn’t require you to “embrace” or suddenly “love” your body. Small steps toward self-compassion, neutrality or respect can make a meaningful difference.

A gentle place to start

Body image concerns can feel deeply personal, and it’s okay if you’re not sure where to begin.

If you’d like to learn more about our approach, you’re welcome to explore it, or reach out for support when it feels right for you.
