Fees, Rebates & Cancellation Policy

Consult Fees

I value being open and honest with you about the consult fees and rebates.

To provide a quality service with a client-centred approach, all sessions are 50 minutes in length.

Note from the 1st July 2022, our fees will be as follows:

– Be Mindful Nutrition is a private billing service and there is a gap between the cost of an appointment and the rebate offered by Medicare.
– These fees are the same for in person, telehealth and phone consults.


At the time of booking you will be asked to enter in your debit/credit card details into Halaxy (this is encrypted and secure). This is so that the payment can be processed automatically during your appointment time to leave us more time to focus on what is important to you.
If you are on a Medicare care plan, your rebate will be processed for you at the time of payment. You will receive the rebate into your nominated bank account in ~3 business days.
We do not process private health rebates but will provide you with a receipt (via email) for you to claim any Private Health fund rebates.


You do not need a referral to access my services. Although, if you are on a care plan you will receive rebates from Medicare.
If you have an eating disorder, I will require that you have regular reviews with your GP, psychiatrist of paediatrician, due to the medical risks associated with these conditions. With your permission, I will liaise with your treatment team to ensure optimal care.  

*Medicare Rebates

If your doctor has referred you on a care plan which includes dietetics (see below for two different types) you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate. This means that you will receive a portion of the total fee back from Medicare. The current rebate (2023) is approximately $55.10 for each session.
(Note the rebate will be greater if you have exceeded the Medicare Safety Net – it is recommend that you register for this with Medicare to receive maximum rebates for all your health care needs). Click here to register a couple or family for the safety net.

*Eating Disorder Treatment

If you have been diagnosed with an eating disorder AND meet the eligibility criteria, your GP can place you on an Eating Disorder Plan (EDP). This will will entitle you to rebates for up to 20 visits per year to see a Dietitian (and 20-40 visits to see a psychologist). 

Please check with your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician to see if you qualify.

(Note: If not eligible for an EDP, you may still be eligible for medicare rebates under a Chronic Disease Management Plan).

*Chronic Disease Management Plan 
This entitles you to rebates for up to 5 sessions per calendar year to see a variety of health care professionals. The number of sessions to see a Dietitian will be determined by your referring GP. 

Examples of conditions that may qualify for a Chronic Disease Management Plan include: Diagnosed Eating disorder (which does not meet eligibility criteria for EDP), Diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2), Cardiovascular Disease, Musculoskeletal conditions, PCOS and more.

To see that you qualify, please discuss with your GP.

Private Health Insurance Rebates

Depending on your private health fund, you may be eligible for a rebate under Private Health Insurance (not to be used in addition to Medicare). If you are using Private Health Insurance the rebate amount will depend on your particular fund and your level of cover. If unsure, just give your health fund a call to find out if you are covered for dietetics and what percentage of the consult will be covered. The Item code is 500 for initial consults and 600 for review consults.

Cancellation Policy 

When an appointment is made, we have set aside a whole hour especially for you. If you do not attend, or cancel with little notice, we cannot offer that appointment to someone on the waitlist.

For this reason, we reserve the right to bill a late cancellation fee up to 100% of the consultation fee. Clients must confirm or reschedule their appointment on the same day the SMS reminder is sent before 4pm (AWST) by emailing admin@bemindfulnutrition.com.au to avoid incurring a fee.

  • A 50% cancellation fee will be charged if you cancel in the days after the SMS reminder is sent.
  • A 100% cancellation/no show fee will be charged if you cancel the day of your appointment or do not show.

Please note, we offer Video or phone Consults as an alternative if you are too unwell to attend in person. 
NOTE: In the event of a late cancellation (or no-show), your card stored on Halaxy will be charged the cancellation amount.
Note Medicare rebates do not apply to cancellation fees.

We understand that you may not be able to keep an appointment due to a sudden illness or an unexpected personal emergency. If this does occur, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing admin@bemindfulnutrition.com.au

Bulk Billing

Unfortunately, we are not a bulk billing practice. All appointments will be charged the full fee and then if applicable, you may receive a rebate for a portion of the fee from Medicare or your private health fund (see above)
